Frank Huerta Jr., 74, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away March 18, 2014, at a Wharton area nursing home following a lengthy illness. Frank was born August 30, 1939 in New Gulf, Texas to parents Francisco and Delia Mendoza Huerta. Frank was raised in the New Gulf area and attended Wharton County Junior College. Frank worked as a Chemical Analyst at Celanese in Bay City for many years. Frank enjoyed fishing, traveling in his truck often ending up in Las Vegas, watching the Houston Oilers, baseball games, horse races, Longhorns, shooting pool and spending time with his children. One of his passions was reading. Frank served in the National Guard. In addition to his parents his sisters Delia Huerta and Rosalinda Huerta, brothers Ezequiel Huerta, Conrado Huerta and Jose Huerta, preceded Frank in death. Survivors include daughters, Diana Jelen and husband, John of Krum, TX, Eva McGuire of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Huerta of Rosenberg, TX; sons, Frank Huerta III of Pflugerville, TX and John Andrew Huerta and wife, Amy of Wilmington, NC. sister Rebecca Huerta of Dana Point, CA, brothers Vincent Huerta and wife, Winnie of Wharton, TX and Gabriel Huerta of Dana Point, CA. Grandchildren Frank Huerta IV, Christopher McGuire, Maryn McGuire, Matthew Jelen, Kayli Ballejo, Carrie Ward, Abigail Huerta and Zachary Huerta. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 from 2 until 4 pm at Wharton Funeral Home followed by funeral services at Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton at 4 pm with Rev. Michael Limas. Cremation will follow the service. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Andres Huerta and Stephen Huerta. The family would like to thank Valerie Cheatham, RN GNP, Elmcroft Assisted Living of Wharton, Wharton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Emeritus of North Austin for the care given to Frank. Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
