Vivian Ruth Wilson

June 11, 1922 — March 24, 2014

Vivian Ruth Wilson, 91, of Wharton, Texas, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, in a Sugar Land hospital.  She was born June 11, 1922, in Eagletown, Oklahoma to parents Leon Hershel and Ethel Ann Kemp Johnson.  In addition to her parents her husband James Earle Wilson preceded her in death. Vivian was raised in the Oklahoma and moved to the Wharton area in 1963.  She married James Earle Wilson in 1949.  She is survived by her daughters Kathryn Ann Penry of Keller, Tx and Mary “Betty” Elizabeth Wilson of Wharton, grandchildren Brian Penry and wife Heather, Josh Penry and wife Alexandra and Travis Penry. She has one great-grandchild Bricen Penry.  She was a member of the Wharton Pilot’s Club and worked for the City of Wharton. She was the owner operator of Magnolia Mobile Home Park in Wharton.  Vivian enjoyed sewing, gardening and collecting thimbles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. Visitation was held Friday morning, March 28, 2014 at 9 a.m. with a rosary held at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Burial followed at 2 p.m at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston, TX.  Serving as pallbearers were Brian Penry, Josh Penry, Travis Penry, Hunter Smolik, Jess Howell and Ronnie Boedeker.         Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
