Ruby Marie Dolejsi, 87, of Wharton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at a Wharton nursing center. She was born December 5, 1926, in Yorktown, Texas to parents Hugo August and Wilhelmina Christina Schmeeckle Schneider. Ruby was raised in the El Campo area and graduated from El Campo High School. She married John Dolejsi on July 1, 1952 in El Campo. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1997. She worked at Security Bank and Trust for many years in the loan department and even after retirement, worked at Prosperity Bank several days a month. Ruby enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and baking. She enjoyed working at the church, where she would bring fresh baked goods for services and fund raisers. Ruby was also a volunteer “Pink Lady” at Gulf Coast Medical Center for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, her brothers, Johnny and Billie Schneider and sister, Lillie Mae Schneider, preceded her in death. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. from First United Methodist Church, 1717 Pioneer in Wharton with Rev. Meredith Wende officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton, TX. Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Reynolds, Dillon Dolejsi, Kevin Smith, Gaddis Guffey, Joe Crow and Martin Davis. Honorary pallbearers include Steven and Dorothy Bosch. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Lesa Reynolds and husband, James of West Columbia, sons, Gary Dolejsi of Wharton and David Dolejsi and wife, Sally of Fort Worth, sister, Dorothy Danielson of Georgetown, brother, James Schneider and wife, Angela of Angleton, grandchildren, Jimmy Reynolds and wife, Celeste, Amanda Smith and husband, Kevin and Dillon Dolejsi, great grandchildren, Shane Reynolds and Ryan Wilson. The family would like to thank the staff of Elmcroft Senior Living of Wharton and Wharton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care given to their mother. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
