Hallie Mae Johnston

Hallie Mae Johnston                         Hallie Mae Johnston, age 92 of Wharton died Saturday morning, April 26, 2014 at a El Campo hospital following a lengthy illness.  She was born on September 24, 1921 in El Campo, Texas, a daughter of the late Dan T and Minnie Scheller Mitchell.                         Hallie Mae was a raised in the El Campo area and graduated from school there. She married Sidney Johnston on December 2, 1941 in El Campo. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1967. Hallie Mae was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed volunteering at Gulf Coast Medical Center and following the celebrity gossip in the newspapers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Glenn Foster Johnston and Kyle Douglas Johnston and brother, Wilber Mitchell.                                                 Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 3 pm at Wharton Cemetery with Rev. Tony Wishert officiating.                         Survivors include her son Dr Gary W Johnston of Magnolia and daughter Sylvia Elaine Johnston of Victoria, grandchildren, Patrick Johnston and Kyle Wesley Johnston and great grandchildren, Kyle Matthew and Neil Aaron Johnston.                         Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Wharton, or the American Diabetes Asociation.           Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
