Leslie Walter “Bubba” Hudgins, age 74 of Hungerford passed away Thursday morning, May 29, 2014 at his residence with his family at his side, following a brief illness. He was born on April 28, 1940 in Wharton, a son of the late Edgar Hinkle and Allene Lord Hudgins. Bubba was raised in Hungerford and attended both Hungerford and Wharton schools. He married Carrie Mae Willrich on November 14, 1960. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2013. He was a member of St Johns Catholic Church in Hungerford. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with cattle and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bubba was a part of the 5th generation of the J.D. Hudgins, Inc Ranch. He was a very fortunate man. His business was his passion. Bubba had the opportunity to judge cattle shows throughout the world. His travels, both nationally and internationally, let him meet and make lifelong friends, which he still shares today. He had the opportunity to increase the quality of American Brahman cattle throughout the world. He would often help breeders with their mating selections in the countries he visited. We are very fortunate to have the herd of Brahman cattle that we have today because of Bubba. We love him and we will miss him dearly. Bubba is survived by his daughter, Amy Polak of East Bernard, sons, Steven Hudgins and fiancée Lisa Shoppa of Hungerford and Rex Hudgins and wife, Suzie of East Bernard, brothers, Joe Hudgins and wife, Merle, Bill Hudgins and wife, Joyce, Bob Hudgins and wife, Vanessa, and Tom Hudgins and wife, Kathy, sister in law, Shirley Willrich and grandchildren, Taylor Hudgins, Collin Hudgins, Andrew Hudgins, Hunter Shoppa, Zachary Shoppa, Amanda Polak, Kristin Polak, Brooke Polak, Abby Hudgins and Caylee Hudgins. Funeral services were held Monday, June 2 at 1pm with Rev. Charles Dwomoh and Rev. Donald Ruppert officiating. Burial followed in the St John Cemetery in Hungerford. Memorial contributions may be made to St John Catholic Church or The American Jr. Brahman Association, 3003 South Loop West, Suite 520, Houston, Texas 77054.
