Gordon “Sonny” C Elliott, age 84, of Needville, Texas, passed away this week. He was born in April 1931 in Glen Flora, Texas to parents, Charles Coleman and Delisse Peters Elliott. Sonny was raised in the Glen Flora area and attended Crescent school where he lettered in football, baseball, and track. He proudly served our country during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged. He was a meat cutter and Market Manager for Jamail’s in the River Oaks area of Houston for over 40 years. Sonny understood the beauty of the simple things in life and enjoyed working with horses, smoking briskets, driving his John Deere, and a good joke. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Laverne and Elo Lutringer of Wharton along with family and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, June 12th after 6:00 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 13, 2014 at 1 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with Doc Blakely officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Sybil (Honc) Elliott of Needville, only son, Charles Elliott, wife Tracy Hunter Elliott, and grandchildren Tyler (12) and Brooke (9) of Indianapolis IN. Serving as Pallbearers are Dennis Peters, A.J. Peters, James Walker, Garrett Cerny, Tyler “Tex” Elliott, Mike Stewart, Jeffery Lively, Clifford Honc and Kenny “Bubba” Blair.
