Doris Pugh Clifton Doris Pugh Clifton, 74, of Wharton, Texas, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, in a Wharton hospital. She was born February 19, 1940, in Iowa Louisiana to parents Ben Lewis Pugh Sr. and Elsie Wait Pugh. Doris was raised in Louisiana and moved to the Wharton area in 1980. She married Robert “Bob” Decell in 1961 and he preceded her in death in 1966. She married Robert “Steven” Clifton May 8, 1970. Doris played varsity basketball for five years in school. She liked horses, cows, humming birds and tree ducks. Mrs. Clifton loved playing Skip Bo and spending time with her family. She liked to water-ski, deep-sea fishing and nature. She was a very good cook and very giving to anyone. In addition to her parents, first husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Ben Lewis Pugh Jr. Doris is survived by her husband Robert “Steven” Clifton, daughter Debra Decell Speckels and William of Sugarland, Sons Robert Dwain Decell and Laura of College Station, Steven Scott Clifton and Lori of El Campo, Sisters Kathryn Ann Findley of Lake Charles, Carolyn Faye Decell of Houston, grandchildren Kyle, Cori, Colin and Colton Decell, Braden and Brandi Speckels, and Ben Clifton. Visitation will be held Monday June 16, 2014 after 6 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 17, 2014 at noon with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating at the Chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home, 515 E Boling HWY. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
