Esther Arias Anzaldua

Esther Arias Anzaldua, 70, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born May 13, 1944, in Bay City, Texas to parents Bruno Arias and Esther Zepeda Lopez. Esther was raised in the Bay City area. She married Manuel Anzaldua Jr. on December 23, 1961 in Bay City. She was a housewife and loved spending time with her family especially her many grandchildren. Esther enjoyed ceramics, painting, reading the Bible, camping, fishing and cooking. Her parents Bruno Arias and Esther Zepeda Lopez preceded her in death. Visitation was held Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 12 noon from Wharton Funeral Home Chapel in Wharton with Brother Bob Hobbins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarville Cemetery in Bay City, TX. Serving, as pallbearers were Baldamar Mendiola, Michael Hernandez, Medardo Ramirez, Christopher Borger, Anthony Hernandez and Stephen Lowry. Esther is survived by her husband of 52 years Manuel Anzaldua Jr. of Corpus Christi, daughters Esther Marie Anzaldua of Austin, TX, Minerva Borger and husband Christopher, of Corpus Christi, Patricia and husband Michael Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Olivia Anzaldua of San Antonio, TX, son, Manuel Anzaldua III of Dallas, TX, sisters, Eva Arias Guzman of Texas City, TX, Elva Arias Mendiola of Houston, TX Olga Arias Douglas of Colorado, Mary Arias Rodriguez of Angleton, TX, Linda Jasso of Angleton, brothers, Don Montoya Jr. of Boling, TX, Bruno Arias Jr. of Brazoria, TX, Johnny Arias and Ruben Jasso of Angleton, TX, grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony and Allison Hernandez, Sophia Borger and Elena Espinoza.. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
