Steve Roland Sanchez After fighting a lengthy illness Steve Sanchez left this world to join the angels in Heaven on June 29, 2014. Steve died in La Crosse Wisconsin while traveling with his wife to Minnesota to attend his father in law’s funeral. Steve was born September 1, 1957 in El Campo, Texas to Steve and Virginia (Redwine) Sanchez. He graduated from the El Campo High School in 1976. On October 17, 1992 he married Cindy Hanson in Louise, Texas. Steve took his marriage vows to love and support very seriously and had unconditional support for Cindy and her career. For 35 years he worked for Wharton County Electric Cooperative with 31 of those years as an equipment operator. Steve was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wharton and loved his church family. Steve enjoyed his grandchildren, racing, working in the yard, landscaping and doing whatever was needed at McDonald’s of Wharton. Even if it meant he needed to flip hotcakes on Sunday. Steve loved barbequing, working at Pierce BBQ, Mustang Creek BBQ and introducing his Minnesota family to true Texas BBQ. Steve was a man with an enormous heart who gave of himself to help others in many ways. His pride in his work at the Co-op and his love for his fellow workers, his unconditional love for his family were the qualities that defined Steve the person. He was a caring son, a tremendous big brother, an exceptional husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. The joy of Steve’s final years will always be his grandchildren. Steve is survived by his wife Cindy of Wharton; five children Lisa Kathrine, Rosa Danielle, Jennifer Marie, Amber Lynn, and Pedro Gonzales; seven grandchildren Aubrey, Aalayah, Aaden, Sophie, Eliah, Blake, and Arriannah; his parents Steve and Virginia; four brothers Cecil(Brenda), David (Donna), Dwayne, and Michael(Elaine); and a sister Norma(Kevin). He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister Sandra. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 10, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wharton, Pastor Debbie Cenko officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday July 9, 2014 5p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
