James E. Rupe Jr., age 91, of Boling, Texas, passed away at the Wharton Nursing and Rehab Wednesday August 6, 2014. He was born January 9, 1923, in Bay City to the late James Sr. Rupe and Jesse A Scott. James was raised in the Bay City area and graduated from Bay City High. James enlisted in 1942 in the Army Air Corp, which later became the United States Air Force and he was medically discharged in 1944. He married Billie McKinney on February 9, 1945 and they lived their lives together in the Boling area. James was an electrician for Texas Gulf Sulfur. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving racecars. Visitation was held on Thursday evening at Wharton Funeral Home with the Graveside service being held at 10 am Friday, August 8, 2014 at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Van Vleck with Rev. Skip Holman officiating. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Billie Rupe of Boling, son, Michael Rupe wife Linda, grandchildren Stephanie Didear husband Shawn, Stacey Salazar, Jason Rupe, Kristi Cortez and husband, Joe, Christy Pearsall and husband Jeff, Joshua Pospisil and wife, Jessica, great grandchildren Kelsey Salazar, Kory Didear, Katy and Gabby Rupe, Crystal Hargrove, Lauren, Daniela and Ryan Cortez, Annabel and Cody Pospisil, Jordan, Ashligh and Averie Pearsall. In addition to his parents, his daughter Billie Lynn Dean preceded James in death.
