Amelia Rodriguez, 83, of Wharton, Texas, passed on peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2014, in a Sugar Land Hospital. She was born December 4, 1930, in Edna, Texas to parents Joe Garcia Sr. and Cruz Montez. Amelia was raised in the Wharton area. She married Roman Ruiz Rodriguez in 1958. She was a housewife and loved spending time with her family. Amelia enjoyed watching TV and cooking. In addition to her parents, her husband, Roman Ruiz Rodriguez, her son Daniel Rodriquez, her grandson Raymond “Pop” Rodriguez IV, her brothers, Gonzales Garza, Joe Garza Jr. and Rosendo Garza preceded her in death. Visitation was held Friday, August 15th, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 16th, 2014 at 10 am from Wharton Funeral Home Chapel in Wharton with Deacon David Valdez officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton, TX. Serving, as pallbearers are Paul Maldonado, Jr., Jessica Maldonado, Amanda Rodriguez, Sabastian Wilson, Joe Rodriguez, Jr., Daniela Rios and Mariaha Alizay Rodriguez. Amelia is survived by her daughter Cynthia Wilson and husband James of Wharton, TX, sons, Raymond G. Rodriguez and wife Ma Dolores of Wharton, TX, Joe Rodriguez and wife Denise of Wharton, TX, sisters, Francis Cantero of Mansfield, TX, and Mollie Garza of Wharton, TX, grandchildren Paul Maldonado Jr., Jessica Maldonado, Amanda Rodriguez, Sabastian Wilson, Joe Rodriguez Jr., Angelina Rodriguez, and Daniela Rios. With great grandchildren, Mariaha Alizay Rodriguez, Jayden Maldonado, Layla Wilkerson and Ky’Leiyah Perez also surviving.
