LCPL Robby Edward Mathews

Robby Edward Mathews, Jr., 28, of Camp Pendleton, CA and formerly of Wharton, Texas, passed away on Thursday September 4, 2014, at Camp Pendleton. He was born June 27, 1986, in Fort Worth, Texas a son of Robby Edward Mathews, Sr. and Tessa Lue Johse Mathews. Robby was raised in Wharton and attended Wharton High School. He enlisted in the United States Marines Corp after attending Wharton County Junior College. He served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and on several Marine Expeditionary Units. On January 27, 2014 he married Aaron Farris in Hemet, CA. He enjoyed fishing, camping, kayaking, golf and being with friends and family. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 after 5 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Wharton with Rev. Tony Wishert officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Robby is survived by his wife, Aaron Mathews of Wharton, daughters, Brook Mathews, of Ocean Springs, MS and Elisabeth Mathews of Wharton, step daughter, Emily Hummel of Wharton and Step Son, Noah Hummel of Wharton, parents, Robby and Tessa Mathews of Wharton, sister, Tonya Anders and husband, Kyle of Mansfield, brother, Trevor Mathews of Wharton.
