Willie Ramirez, Jr., 80, of Wharton, Texas, passed away on Friday September 12, 2014, in an El Campo nursing center following a lengthy illness. He was born April 14, 1934 in Glen Flora, Texas a son of the late Willie and Juanita Andrade Ramirez, Sr. Willie attended school in the Glen Flora area and obtained his GED. He worked for many years at Franklin Furniture as a furniture mover. He was very active in his church, Bethel Pentecostal on South Sunset in Wharton. He held many positions on the board of directors, including, Treasurer, Secretary, and President. Later in life, he enjoyed exercise and reading. In addition to his parents, his brother, Libby Ramirez, preceded him in death. Visitation was held Monday evening, September 15, 2014 with a prayer service held at 7pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10 am at Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton with Rev. officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. His sister, Delia Romero and husband, Ruben of Wharton, brothers, Joel Ramirez of Wharton, and Ruben Ramirez of Wharton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, survive Willie.
