Raymond Delgado, 66, of Beasley, Texas, passed away September 17, 2014, at his home following a lengthy illness. Raymond was born April 08, 1948 in Beasley, Texas to parents Jesus and Seferina Silva Delgado. Raymond was raised in the Beasley area and attended Beasley schools. Raymond worked as a welder and a mechanic. Raymond enjoyed fishing, gardening, working with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren. One of his passions was playing the guitar. He enjoyed playing “Ask me no Questions” and “Tommy & Laura” and “My Ding-a-ling”. He had a band named “Ray and the Makers”; they toured in East Bernard, Lake Jackson and Freeport. They were known for playing “Wooly Booly”. Raymond served in the Army, a Veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, his son, Raymond Delgado Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include daughters, Jessica Hayes and husband Nathan of Beasley, Anita Delgado of Wharton, Samantha Vollhardt and wife Nicole of California, and Diane Delgado, sons, David Delgado and wife Tanya of Palacios, Ramon Delgado and wife Angie of Wharton, Abelardo Delgado and wife Gina of Stafford. Sisters Janie Delgado, Margaret Delgado, Mary Luna, Lupe Delgado, Cecilia Delgado, brothers, Antone Delgado, Simon Delgado, John Delgado, Benny Delgado, Jesus Delgado, Daniel Delgado, Pete Delgado, Augustin Delgado and Luis Delgado. Grandchildren Hector, Makayla, David, Destre, Stephanie, Antonio, Ramon Luis, Andreas, Payton, Andrea, Adam, Alejandro and Keith, Great-grandchildren, Tanner and Marie. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 20, 2014 from 5 till 9 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel in Wharton at 2 pm with Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers were Ramon Delgado, Abel Delgado, David Christopher Delgado, Joe Luna, Vincente (Benny) Delgado, Pete Luna, Jesus Delgado and Victor Delgado. Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
