Phillip Brian Ney, 71, of Lane City and formerly of Utah and Arizona, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2014, at a Houston hospital surrounded by his family. He was born December 12, 1942, in Spanish Fork, Utah to parents Joseph James and Arletta Buckley Ney. Phillip was raised in Utah and attended schools there. On May 27, 1988, he married Esther Victoria Higgs. Phillip served our country honorably in the United States Navy during 1962. He enjoyed working in the mining industry, trying his hand at everything from gold, silver, and iron mining. He was very good at setting the dynamite for blasting. Phillip also worked for several road companies, building roads in the mountains of Arizona, and Utah. He was also instrumental in dam building, including the Roosevelt Dam project. Phillip enjoyed traveling, riding and breaking horses, playing golf and riding in his four-wheel drive vehicle. Funeral services were held at 2pm on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Mr. Mack Malone officiating. The Wharton American Legion Post 87 presented the family with the United States Flag and performed TAPS. Serving, as pallbearers will be Pierre Richard, Anthony Higgs, Logan Murphy. Phillip is survived by his wife, Esther Ney, daughter, Michelle Rascon of Arizona, sons, Pierre Richard of Lane City and Anthony Higgs of Arizona and grandchildren, Nicole, Gabby, Harley, Layton, Elisa, Madison, Phillip, William, Mylee, Justin, Brian, Adrian, Hope and Christina.
