Adeline Macek Adeline Macek, age 74 of Wharton, passed away Wednesday morning, October 29, 2014, at her residence following a sudden illness. She was born on December 9, 1939, in El Campo, the daughter of the late Emil Poncik and Christina Zaskoda Poncik. Adeline was raised in the El Campo area and attended school there. Adeline worked as an Avon representative for 37 years and was an owner-operator of Joe’s Place. Adeline married the love of her life, Joe R. Macek, on November 5, 1956, in El Campo, TX. She enjoyed crochet, flowers, gambling, red birds, craft shows, and visiting with friends and family. Visitation was held on Thursday evening, October 30th from 5- 9 p.m with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Service will be held Friday, October 31, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton, TX. Rev. Daniel Danso will be officiating. Serving, as pallbearers will be Kenneth Mican, Donald Macek Jr., Kyle Shimek, Billy Macek, Binky Macek, and Robert Macek Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be her Avon customers, Joe’s Place patrons, and “Her Angels”. Adeline is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Joe R. Macek of Wharton, daughter, Gayla Shimek and husband Ronnie of Iago, TX, son, Donald Macek and wife Melinda of Victoria, TX, grandchildren, Kyle Shimek, Kelsey Folmar and husband Kendan, Donald Macek Jr., Tabitha Blank, and great grandchild baby Folmar on the way. In addition to her parents, Adeline was preceded in death by her son Ronald Macek and her sister Delores Mican. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
