Esther Kramr Mathews, age 89, of Glen Flora, died November 19, 2014, at Accell at Willowbend Nursing Home in Plano, Tx. She was born on January 25, 1925 in Wharton, Texas, the daughter of the late Louis Kramer and Julia Schnieder Kramr. Esther attended public schools in Boling and was a graduate of Boling High School. She married Harold V. Mathews on April 23, 1948 in Flatonia, Tx. They made their home in Glen Flora. Esther was a florist and the former owner of Wharton House of Flowers. In her spare time she enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, working in the yard and cooking. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wharton. She and Harold were married for 55 years before he passed away in 2004. Following his death, Esther moved to Plano to be by her son and family. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband Harold and her son, Harold Mathews Jr. Visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 starting at 5 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. Meredith Wende officiating. Internment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include her son Dr. J Kyle Mathews and wife Cindi of Plano, Tx, Daughter-in law Sherrie Mathews of Deer Park, Tx, grandson Todd Mathews and wife Amberly of Glen Flora, Brandi Langley and Kim Ayala of Deer Park and great grandchildren Toby, Kourtnee and Khloe Mathews.
