Floyd Charles Wind Floyd Charles “Meatball” Wind, age 82 of Wharton died Thursday morning, November 27, 2014 in a Richmond hospital following a brief illness. He was born on April 10, 1932 in Danevang, a son of the late E.L. “Bryan” Wind and Elizabeth Ingvardsen Wind. Floyd was a raised in the Danevang area and graduated from El Campo High School. He was known to his friends as “Meatball.” He served our country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Floyd married Muriel Rose Glass on May 26, 1956 in El Campo. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1983. He later married Marilyn Shefcik on September 1, 1984 in Wharton. She preceded him in death on June 7, 1990. Floyd met Billie Winterrowd soon after and the two were rarely seen apart from one another. He worked in Newgulf for Texasgulf Sulphur for 38 years, eventually becoming an operator. He enjoyed hunting, a good game of dominoes, household projects and family reunions. He was an active member and Elder of the !st Presbyterian Church, as well as with the V.F.W. 4474 in Wharton. Preceding him in death were his parents and wives, his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Wind and infant Laura Wind, sister, Helen Wendel Farley and brother, Jack Wind preceded him in death. Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 3pm at First Presbyterian Church in Wharton with Rev. Debbie Cenko officiating. Survivors include his wife, Billie, son, Larry Wind and wife, Sara of Wharton, step daughter, Cindy Ellis and husband, Fritz of Richmond, grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth Starks and husband, Stormy, John Wind and wife, Sara Beth, Brittany Kener and husband, Garrett and Macale Touchstone and husband, Jason, great grandchildren, Maddie Wind, Andrew Wind and Haven Kener.
