Hattie Emelia Rodgers, age 93, of Wharton, died January 13, 2015, at a Wharton nursing home. She was born on August 27, 1921 in Wharton, Texas, the daughter of the late Arthur Fred and Johanna Berberch Fred. Hattie attended public schools in Wharton. She married Alfred Lee “Will” Rodgers on June 17, 1939 in Wallis, Texas. Hattie was a homemaker and was an owner/operator of a gas station where she was the hamburger maker and bookkeeper. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Wharton. She loved reading, gardening, camping, dancing and spending time with family and friends. She and Will were married for 71 years before he passed away in 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, her daughter, Linda Harrington, preceded her in death. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wharton with Rev. Barry Sharp officiating. Internment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include her sons Stewart Rodgers and wife Hazel of Pell City, AL, Paul Rodgers and wife Jane of Burr, TX, Billy Rodgers of Burr, TX, sisters Isabell Bundich of Old Ocean and Lois Ashcraft of Burr, brothers, John Fred of Belton, MS. She had 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert Ashcraft, Hugo Breightrupt, Wayne Jacques, Eric Rodgers, Tristan Rodgers and David Rodgers.
