Pauline Julia Kalina Mrs. Pauline Julia Kalina, age 85, of Wharton died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Wharton, TX, following a long illness. She was born on August 3, 1929, in Fort Bend County, TX, a daughter of Adolf and Ludmilla Muniza Sabrsula. Mrs. Kalina was a longtime resident of Wharton County. She attended Crescent High School. Pauline was a secretary for Wharton County Extension Office, as well as making a home for her family. On November 11, 1947, she married Julius Kalina in Wharton. She was actively involved with several community organizations, including being one of the founders of the Wharton County Youth Fair, starting the Home Economics department. She was Secretary of the Executive Board and a 4H leader for 56 years. She was also on the President’s Council at the WCYF and an SPJST Assistant District Youth Leader. In addition to her parents, her sisters, Viola Kalina, Lilly Kalina and Betty Sims; and brothers Anton Sabrsula, Paul Sabrsula, and A.J. Sabrsula preceded her in death. Visitation will be held this evening, Saturday, February 7th at Wharton Funeral Home from 5 p.m – 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 8th at 2pm at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Tydlacka and Sherrill Spear officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her husband, Julius of over 67 years; daughters Geraldine Jochec and husband August Jr. of East Bernard, Patsy Womack and husband Larry of Wharton, and Peggy Geisler and husband Carl of Columbus; son Larry Kalina and wife Diane of Wharton; sisters Mary Ann Dorris of Wharton, Clara Kutach and husband Adolf of Boling, and Tracy Howell and husband Preston of Edna; brother Alfred Sabrsula and wife Ruth of Wharton; grandchildren Kristi and Chad Hobbs, Sarah Tydlacka, Sonny Scott and Bernadette Tydlacka, Clint and Heather Kalina, Dustin and Wesley Braden; and great-grandchildren Kennedy and Kenzie Hobbs, Jake, Luke, Blake and one on the way Tydlacka, Taylor, Regan and Chance Kalina, Paige and Bailey Davis and Brinley Konvicka. Pallbearers will be Robert “Bo” Pavlicek Jr., Clint Kalina, Alfred Sabrsula Jr., Wesley Braden, Dustin Braden, Kenneth Sabrsula, Gary Kalina, and Chad Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah Tydlacka, Kristi Hobbs, Diane Kalina, August Jochec Jr., Larry Womack, Carl Geisler, Heather Kalina and Bernadette Tydlacka. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Abell Street Church of Christ or Houston Hospice. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
