Joyce Barker Mrs. Joyce Barker, age 77, of Wharton died Sunday, February 8, 2015, in Houston, TX. She was born on January 15, 1938, in El Campo, TX, a daughter of Leroy and Leona Buenger Frels. Mrs. Barker was a longtime resident of Wharton. She graduated from El Campo High School in 1956. Joyce worked at Community Bank of Texas in Boling. She worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years. In 1956, she married Edgar Barker. She was actively supported her kids and grandkids in their many activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar Barker, and great-grandson Jordan Wynn Jahns, Jr. Visitation will be held this evening, Wednesday, the 11th at Wharton Funeral Home from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 12th at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Knippenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughters Sharon Anders and husband David of Wharton, Linda Triplet and husband Glen Jahns of El Campo and Nancy Barker of Wharton; sons Timothy Barker of Wharton, Michael Barker of Wharton and Jeffrey Barker of Wharton; sisters Gloria Nordeen and husband Johnny of El Campo and Carolyn Tvrdik and husband A. W. of Austin; brothers Harvey Frels and his wife Cathy of Allen and Kenny Frels and his wife Marsha of El Campo; brother in law Joe Wayne Barker and his wife Joyce; sister in law Cathy Sikes and her husband Gary; grandchildren Shawna Barker and Frank, Travis Barker and Ashley, Shae Barker, Todd Barker and Jessica, Tyler Barker and Shelby, Trevor Barker and Andrea, Amanda Barker, Jeremy Barker, Bailey Barker, Christopher Anders, Thomas Anders, Jacob Triplet and Kristin, Carol Triplet and Shannon, Jordan Jahns, Jared Jahns and Mandi, Joshua Jahns, Christy Jahns, Catie Jahns, Justin Jahns and Courtney Barker and 16 great-grandchildren.
