Frank Paul Rachunek Mr. Frank Rachunek, age 88, of Wharton passed away Monday evening, February 9, 2015 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 15, 1926, in Hungerford, TX, a son of the late Frank and Mary Mikel Rachunek. Frank married Dorothy Mae Krenek on October 21, 1947 and she preceded him in death after 63 years of marriage on September 25, 2011. Frank and Dorothy owned and operated Rachunek’s Nursery for over 50 years. Frank was known as a true gentleman who always found the good in others. He loved to help people, especially giving things away from his garden, and found joy in serving those around him. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, sipping a cup of coffee, gardening, a good game of dominoes, and doting on Ms. Dorothy. Nothing brought more joy to Frank than his family. He loved traveling to Europe, watching baseball games, barbecuing, and handing out scratch off tickets at Christmas. Frank was a lifelong resident of Wharton County and graduated from East Bernard High School. He served our country honorably in the United States Navy and later became a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents and wife, his brothers, Anton, Edward, and Rev. Henry Rachunek and sisters, Leona Clemons and Mary Andel, preceded him in death. Survivors include his son, Allen Rachunek and wife, Michele of Wharton, daughter, Clarice McLarty and husband, Bob of Cypress. Sisters, Clara Kostka of Conroe, Ollie Faltisek and husband, Emil of Lake Jackson, Della Morris of Wharton, brothers, Richard Rachunek and wife, JoAnn of Angleton, Ben Rachunek and wife, Louise of Brazoria and Adolph Rachunek and wife, Edith of Wharton. Grandchildren, Bryan White and wife, Terry, Craig White and Becky Foster, Kyle and wife, Amanda, Todd White, John Rachunek and wife, Jackie, and Melissa Zielonka and husband, Chris, great grandchildren, Blayne White, Brett White, Brynn White, Reese White, Charly White, Savanna Smith, Garrison Smith, Kayla and Hunter Rachunek, Jordan and Tristan Voldan, Camdan and Chloe Zielonka, Andrew, Blake, and Myranda Zielonka. A special thank you to Zeddy Chelule for the continuous loving care given to our Dad and Popo….you are our God sent angel! Words simply cannot express our gratitude for the exceptional and selfless care you have provided these past years. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, February 12th at Wharton Funeral Home at 5pm with a parish rosary held at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 13th at 10am at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Hungerford. Pallbearers will be Bryan White, Craig White, Kyle White, Todd White, John Rachunek and Melissa Zielonka.
