Bennie Joe Konvicka Bennie J Konvicka, age 86, of Wharton died early Sunday morning, February 15, 2015 in Houston, TX, following an extended illness. He was born on January 19, 1929, in Fayetteville, Texas, a son of the late Frank and Mary Malek Konvicka. Bennie was a longtime resident of Wharton County. Bennie married Helen Kucera on February 9, 1953 in Wharton. His life passions were farming and family. He also enjoyed fishing (favorite places being Matagorda and the banks of the Colorado River), hunting in Louise, carpentry, gardening and his longhorn cattle. In addition to his parents, his son, Bennie Konvicka Jr. and brothers, Frank and Ed Konvicka preceded him in death. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18th at Wharton Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m, with a rosary recited at 7:15 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Helen Konvicka of Wharton, daughters, Terri Lutringer and husband, Randy of El Campo, and Samantha Hubenak and husband, Douglas of Wharton, sisters, Lillian Brod and husband, Daniel of Wharton and Mary Ann Polasek and husband, Theo of Conroe, brother, Stanley Konvicka and wife, Bessie of Wharton and sister-in-law Betty Konvicka of El Campo, grandchildren Derrick Lutringer and wife, Kari, Stephanie Rawlinson and husband, Garet, Jamie Feyen and husband, Matthew, Jason Hubenak and wife, Allison and Jared Hubenak, great grandchildren Dylan Lutringer, Kathryn “Kate” Lutringer, Carli Rawlinson, Layni Rawlinson, Mayci Hubenak, Weston Hubenak, and Braley Feyen. Pallbearers will be Derrick Lutringer, Garet Rawlinson, Matthew Feyen, Jason Hubenak, Jared Hubenak and Dylan Lutringer. Honorary Pallbearers will be his many nieces and nephews and longtime friends. The family is most thankful for many family and friends and their countless prayers and acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Faith Christian Academy of Wharton County or St. Philip Catholic School in El Campo.
