The Lord has called his servant back home Rev. Ruben A. Romero, Sr. of Wharton, Texas on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Born in Oakville, Texas to the late Jose and Tempora Amaya Romero and raised in Pawnee, Texas. He married Delia Ramirez on October 24, 1970 in Bethel CLADIC Church in Wharton. He was a business graduate of TSTI in Waco, Texas and spent a year in Christian Seminary as a member of the CLADIC Council. He served 36+ years pastoring in the CLADIC Council by first submitting to the ordination of God, then accepting the exhortation, licensure and finally becoming a reverend in the ministry. He was also a journeyman/electrician as well as worked in accounting in securities and finance. He was very creative by refurbishing old items to make them new again. His compassion for this creativity lead to the construction and rebuilding of many CLADIC churches. As a father, he strongly taught his children about God and always stressed the importance of education and family. When he was not preaching the Word of God, he loved playing the guitar and the bass guitar along with his son and daughters accompanying him. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 3-7 pm with a prayer service from 7-9 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Delia Romero; son, Ruben Romero Jr. and wife Ramona of Gatesville, Tx; daughters, Rebecca Ewah and husband Francis of Houston, Tx; Janel Romero of Houston, Tx; sister Marta Romero of Corpus Christi; brother Victor Romero and wife Esther of California; grandchildren Brittany Romero, Emelia Ewah, Sierra Romero, Danielle Ewah, Kyle Romero Preceded in death by: son, Daniel Romero; brother, Ezequiel Romero; mother, Tempora Romero; father, Jose Romero Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
