Leon Horelica, 92, of Boling Texas, passed away on March 16, 2015, at a nursing home in Needville after a valiant fight with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born November 25, 1922, in Fort Bend County to the late Steve Horelica and Julia Vecera Horelica. Leon was raised in the Wharton area. He attended school in Hungerford, Texas. He married Lorna Foehner in Boling on August 22, 1957. Leon liked to hunt, fish and would go with friends to hunt Elk in Colorado and he enjoyed gardening. He was an owner/operator of a lawn service. Prior to owning his lawn service, Leon worked in the oil field and maintenance for the school. In addition to his parents, his son, Richard Leon Horelica, brothers, Raymond Horelica and Vernon Horelica preceded him in death. Visitation services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 5 p.m to 7 p.m at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2 pm at Methodist Church of Boling with Pastor Kenny Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Lorna; son, Danny Joe Horelica; sisters, Clara Sikora of Wharton, Viola Hokenson of Minnesota and Julia Ann Parker of Wharton; brothers, William P Horelica of Beaumont and Steve Horelica of Angleton; and many nieces and nephews. Serving, as pallbearers will be Billy Horelica, Mark Horelica, Bobby Rosenbaum, Kenny Rosenbaum, Melvin Ganske, Jerry Winkenwerder and Cody Winkenwerder.
