Burlon Levon Parsons

Burlon Levon Parsons, Jr.,67, of Wharton passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 16, 2015 at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was born July 26, 1947 in Wharton to Burlon Sr. and Polly Whiddon Parsons. Burlon is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betsy Bentley Parsons; his sons Patrick Shawn Parsons of Wharton, Lee Parsons and his wife, Becky, of San Marcos, and Travis Parsons of Odessa, his granddaughter, Ashley Parsons of San Marcos, his grandsons Cody, Sam, and Brady Parsons of San Marcos, and Jamie Parsons of Huntsville and his great granddaughter, Rhylee Parsons. His is also survived by his brother Pat Parsons and wife, Terri of Weimar and sisters Susan Whaley of Katy, Melanie Krenek of Wharton, and Angel Dirba and husband Paul of Midland, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edward, and his sister Bonnie. Burlon graduated from Wharton High School in 1966 and Wharton County Junior College in 1968. He attended Sam Houston State University and the University of Houston. He worked from W-K-M Valve Company in Missouri City for 17 years. He worked for the Wharton Journal-Spectator for over 28 years and for the East Bernard Express since its beginning in 2003. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed painting, history, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be at Wharton Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18, from 5-7 p.m. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Wharton Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 19 with the Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Funeral Services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
