Carolyn Elaine Flagg was suddenly called home to be with her Lord and Savior after complications from surgery at age 65 on March 27th, 2015. "Carol", as known by all who love her, was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother who touched the countless hearts of family, friends and strangers alike. Carol was born October 2nd, 1949 in Wharton, Texas to Harry and Dorothy Theiss. It was in Wharton that Carol met the love of her life and future husband, Dan Flagg. The couple remained by each other’s side through 43 joyful years of marriage until the moment of her passing, including Carol's enduring support of her husband's esteemed law enforcement career and the raising of two grateful children. Carol and Dan established homes and friends in Wharton, San Marcos and Sugar Land before sharing memories between a country home in La Grange and residence in Missouri City, Texas. Carol was actively involved in her community, particularly in her devotion to the activities of her church, including teaching Sunday school many years at First Baptist Church of Sugar Land and supporting the ministry of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Missouri City. Carol was the epitome of selflessness, not just by thoughts but also truly by service. No one knew of Carol’s love and devotion more than Dan and his children, except for Carol's granddaughter, Rachel. "Gammie", as she will be forever known to Rachel, was without a doubt the sweetest, most loving friend and grandparent a young child could hope to have. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Theiss and nephew Carey Travis. Carol is survived by her father Harry Theiss; her husband Dan Flagg; mother-in-law Margaret Inez Flagg; sister Gayle Travis and husband Tony; brother David Theiss; son Steven Flagg; daughter Jennifer Dees and husband Christopher; grandchild Rachel Dees; niece Cara Mahaffey and husband Chris as well as countless church and community friends. A celebration of Carol's life will be held Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 at 1:00 PM, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2719 Kingsbrook Lane in Missouri City, Texas. A graveside service and commitment followed at 4p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3511 East Alabama Road in Wharton, Texas. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
