Calvin John Hohensee, age 87, of Wharton passed away Sunday morning, April 5, 2015 in a Stafford hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 14, 1927, in Monravia, TX, a son of the late Albert and Rosalie Ehler Hohensee. Calvin married Mary Marcell Matula on June 18, 1951 in Hallettsville. Calvin was a retired Supervisor for Sunbeam Bread. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, staying busy, polka music and coaching Little League. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. He served our country honorable in the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, his sister Pearl Hohensee, grandson Jarred Hohensee and son in law David Lowe, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Mary Hohensee, children, Ronnie Hohensee of Wharton, Debbie Lowe of Wharton, Randy Hohensee and wife Sherry of Victoria and David Hohensee and wife Patsy of Conroe; sister Virginia Zook and husband Gary of Floresville; grandchildren Heather Hohensee, Jason and wife Zia Lowe, Dusty Lowe, Michael Hohensee Ashley Hohensee, Kourtney and Chelsey Hohensee; great grandchildren Gibson and Gemma Lowe, Brinley Fogleman, Savannah and Breanna Hohensee. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 9th at Wharton Funeral Home at 5pm with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 10th at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Deacon Charlie Novosad officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers will be Dusty Lowe, Jason Lowe, Ronnie Hebert, Dale Potter, Bennie Kouba and Gary Matula.
