Tom T Araguz, Sr.

TOM T ARAGUZ SR. Tom T. Araguz, age 82 of Wharton, TX passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 in a Houston hospital following a chronic illness. He was born on December 21, 1932 in Rio Hondo, TX, the son of the late Gavino Araguz, Sr, and Maria Trevino Araguz. Tom was joined in marriage to Betty Merlos on March 12, 1954, in El Campo. He was preceded in death by his grandson Thomas Araguz III and brother Gavino Araguz, Jr.. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he worked as a truck driver for TexasGulf Sulphur. Tom was a known as a Jack of All Trades, be it small engines, electrical work, or gardening. His favorite past times were fishing and bingo. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 14, from 6-9, with a Rosary at 7, at Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton, with Father Ty Bazar officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Serving, as pallbearers are Thomas Araguz, Jr., Ricky Araguz, Arthur Araguz, Phillip Araguz, Tyler Araguz, Dylan Araguz, Marshall Melner and Trevor Araguz. Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Merlos Araguz; sons, Thomas Araguz, Jr., Ricky Araguz and wife, Teresa and Arthur Araguz, step sister, Mayo Araguz; grandchildren Raquel Araguz, Ricky Araguz, Jr., Phillip Michael Araguz, Haylee Araguz and Dylan Araguz; and great-grandchildren Trevor Araguz, Tyler Araguz and Joshua Melner, all of Wharton.
