Ramona Rodriguez Robles, age 95, of Wharton, Tx, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 29, 1919 in a cotton field in Barstow, Tx, the daughter of the late Faustino Rodriguez Sr. and Anselma Gomez Rodriguez.. Ramona and her beloved husband Rudolph C. Robles were joined in matrimony in 1947. She answered the call of wartime and worked as an assembler at the military base in Corpus Christi during World War II, before making a home for her growing family. She later made a career as a Lab Assistant at Gulf Coast Medical Center until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed playing piano prior to her marriage, cleaning her home and crochet, but family and neighbors will most remember seeing her out walking in her neighborhood. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Joe Robles. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Ramona was survived by her daughters Sylvia Reyes of Houston, Cindy Samora and husband Lupe of Wharton and Delilah Robles of Wharton; sons Rudolph Robles Jr. and wife Gaby of Victoria, John Robles and wife Dora of Wharton and Benjamin Robles of Wharton; sister Lupe Castaneda and husband Ramiro of Corpus Christie; brother Faustino Rodriguez Jr. of Arlington; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and her grand-dogs Rocco, Holly and Mandy. The family would like to extend special thanks to Tracy Rameriz. Tracy was not only a loving granddaughter but also a dedicated caregiver for many years.
