Dela Marie Wright Dela Marie Wright, age 95, of Wharton, Texas passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 24, 1919 in Wharton, TX, a daughter of Louis and Julia Schneider Kramr. Dela was a lifetime resident of Wharton. She attended Wharton High School. Dela married Roy Wright on Jan. 7, 1953 in Wharton. They lived a very happy life together for 62 years. Dela and Roy enjoyed traveling the world. She was a homemaker and enjoyed many activities including playing cards and dominoes, dancing, going on a gambling day trip to Louisiana, and spending time with her family and dear friends. She was an accomplished seamstress, often sewing clothes for her children and making many baby quilts. She was a perfectionist at her skills and her attention to details made her work outstanding. Dela was a passionate cook that enjoyed sharing her table with family and friends. Her kitchen was the heart of her home and she was glad to welcome anyone who stopped by to enjoy her labor of love. In addition to her parents, her sisters Clara Davis, Lillie Horelica, Esther Mathews, and brother Alvin Kramr preceded her in death. Survivors include her loving husband Roy Wright who referred to Dela as "Dearie", daughters Carol Miller and husband Travis of Katy, Sherri Welch and husband Ivan of Wharton, and son Charles Wright and wife Lynn of Alta Loma, CA. Dela had 5 grandchildren, Russell Gibson and wife Lindsay , Julia Santizo and husband Randy, Brian Wright, Holly Welch, and Kipp Welch and great-grandchildren Colby Gibson, Violet Santizo, Zoe Gibson, and baby Santizo on the way. Visitation was held on Tuesday April 28th from 5-7 pm at the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday April 29th at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Meredith Wende officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Wright, Brian Wright, Russell Gibson, Kipp Welch, Sidney Davis, Kyle Mathews, and Travis Miller. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Homes. Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to all those who were so caring and kind to Dela.
