Jeanette W. Ferguson of Wharton died May 5, 2015, at the age of 85. She was born on July 22, 1929 in Marion County, Jefferson, Texas, the daughter of the late George C. Wolaver and Thelma Cooner Wolaver. Mrs Ferguson was reared in the Jefferson area. Received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, in 1950. She began working for the Texas Agri Extension Service in Grimes County. Her working career concluded with teaching in the Boling Independent School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. P. Ferguson, of 51 years, her parents, brothers, Jerrell Wolaver and George Daniel Wolaver. Jeanette enjoyed telling stories of growing up in a family of farmers and ginners. She was a member of local 4-H Club for 8 years. She dedicated her life to serving her family and Creator. She was a Protestant by faith. She was also a member of the Texas Retired Teachers’ Association. Jeanette enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, traveling and cooking. Visitation will be held on Monday, May,11, from 5-8 pm at Wharton Funeral Home. Interment will be Tuesday May,12, at 2:00 pm, at Evergreen Memorial Park; 3511 Alabama Rd., Wharton, Texas.
