Olivia Cadriel Castro Olivia Castro, age 95, of Wharton, died May 9, 2015, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on February 17, 1920 in Danevang, Texas, the daughter of the late Joe Martin and Mary Beth Owens Cadriel. Olivia attended public schools in the El Campo area. On October 3, 1942, she married Paul Castro in Galveston, Texas. Olivia worked as a receptionist for the highway department and for several credit companies. Olivia was an avid reader, enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, fishing, sharing a good meal, listening to big band music, and as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she loved sharing the word of God with others. In addition to her parents, Olivia was preceded in death by her five sisters and three brothers. Visitation will begin today, Wednesday May 13, 2015 after 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 2 pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Castro officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her husband of over 72 years, Paul Castro; daughter, Patty Brooke and husband, John of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tony Goddard and wife, Brenda and Logan Goddard; great grandchildren Casen and Landree.
