Bertha Casteneda Quijas, age 71 of Wharton passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015, in Sugar Land. She was born on April 20, 1944, in Bay City, Texas, the daughter of the late Carlos and Dominga Casteneda. Bertha worked in the school cafeteria prior to her retirement. She was married to the late Raymond Quijas Sr. on January 9, 1965. She was known for her beautiful and delicious cakes, drawing, days at the beach and spending time with her family and large circle of friends. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and caring friend. The family will remember their mother and friend with a private celebration of her life. Bertha is survived by her sons Ricky and his wife Misty of Wharton, and Sonny and his wife Renee of Denver, Colorado; sisters Rose Cook and Frances Corral; brothers John Castaneda and Charlie Castaneda; and grandchildren Sophia, Micah, Sloane, Sky and William.
