Betty Jo Cox

Betty Jo Cox Mrs. Betty Jo Cox, age 80, of Boling went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at her sons’ house in Groesbeck, Texas. She was born on September 9, 1934, in Ridge, TX, a daughter of the late Edgar and Ulyssis Johnston Elledge. Betty was raised in the Calvert area and graduated from Calvert schools. She married William Jack Cox on March 7, 1953 in South Houston. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2003. Betty was a homemaker all her married life. She enjoyed cooking, visiting with friends and family and attending church. In addition to her parents and husband, her sons, Kenneth Cox and William Stephan Cox, brother, Haskell Elledge and sister, Mary Deal, also preceded her in death. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th from 6 till 8 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 10 am Thursday, May 28, at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Valmon Meade officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin, TX at 4pm. Survivors include her son, Mark Cox and wife, Cheryl of Groesbeck, daughter in law, Nancy Cox of Rosenberg, sisters, Dorothy Kirkendall of Commerce, OK, Velma Huibugtse of Yakima, WA, brother, E. G. “Edgar” Elledge of Fort Gibson, OK, granddaughters, Elisabeth Page and husband, Corey and Sarah Elaine Cox and a great grandson on the way.
