Mary Marie Wuthrich

Mary Wuthrich, age 82 of Cape Caranchua, near Palacios, TX, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at her son's home following an extended illness. She was born on November 9, 1932 in Applespring, TX, a daughter of the late Claude and Lillie Mae Mullican. Mary was raised in the Corrigan area and graduated from high school there. She later attended Baylor University where she met and married her lifelong soulmate. She married Harold Wuthrich on August 27, 1955. She received her RN degree in nursing and moved back to Wharton with her husband. She worked at Caney Valley and Gulf Coast Medical Center along with being a school nurse in the Hungerford and Wharton ISDs. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2009. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening and being with her dogs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Louis Mullican. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. David Pate officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Susan Walker of Portsmouth, RI, son, Harold W. Wuthrich and wife, Jynell of Palacios, brother, James Mullican and wife, Barbara of Arkansas, grandchildren, Benjamin H. Walker III, Carter H. Walker, Jeffery Dike and Corey Dike and great grandchildren, Fanancy Dike, Skye Dike, Shelby Dike, Angelica Dike and Kori Dike. Pallbearers were Corey Dike, Tommy Smith, Robert E Baker, Barry Wuthrich, Benjamin Walker III, and Carter Walker. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E Locust, Victoria, TX 77901 and Alzheimer Association 22246 W Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030. Condolences can be left at www.whartonfuneralhome.com Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
