Julia L. Krenek, 82, of Egypt, TX passed away at Kindred Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas, on Sunday, June 14, 2015. Born on June 15, 1932 in East Bernard, Texas, to the late Louis and Julia Holchak Schaer, Julia attended East Bernard High School and graduated Salutatorian of her class. She married the late Paul Krenek on November 5, 1956 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford, Texas. Professionally, she worked as a licensed vocational nurse and histologist at Wharton’s Gulf Coast Medical Center. In addition to her medical career, Julia enjoyed ranching and seeing a new calf crop each Spring. Ultimately, however, her primary vocation was being a dedicated wife to her husband, a loving mother to her seven children, and a devoted grandmother to her 24 grandchildren. Julia loved our Lord in her Roman Catholic faith especially expressed through the liturgy with singing and music. She served as an organist at area Catholic parishes for over sixty years. An active parishioner and member of the Catholic Daughters of America, she delighted in bidding for goodies at the bazaar auctions. She had a special love for the seminarians preparing to be priests and supported them in her own special way. She also loved having her parish priests, both present and past, come out to Egypt for Sunday meals with the family resulting in very close friendships with many of the Catholic priests. A talented seamstress, cook, and gardener, Julia passed many of these skills on to her children. She spent a lot of time outdoors tending to her flowers and fishing. Julia loved to play “42” dominoes with her friends and occasionally made a trip across state lines to do a little gambling. Lastly, she was a “people person” and enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors, and strangers as well. She is survived by her sister, Frances Chilek and her husband Daniel. She is also survived by her children Paula Poulicek and her husband Jim and their children Drew, Joel and Kyle; Michael Krenek and his wife Debbie along with children Teri, Leah, Hunter and their mother Becky; Dennis Krenek and his wife Marguerite along with children Bonnie, Brian, Sarah, Rosemary, Jerald and Dennis; Carolyn Pratt and her husband Richard and their children Paul, Ruth, John and Yulia; Doug Krenek and his wife Ramona along with their children Rachel, Stephen, Matthew, David, Anna, and Therese; Phillip Krenek and his wife Jana; Francis (BB) Krenek and his wife Leigh and their children William and James Paul ; and great grandchildren Nathalia, Elyse, Wyatt and Clara.
