Mr. Jose Alameda, Jr., age 69, died Sunday morning, June 21, 2015, in a Sugarland hospital following an extended illness. He was born March 28, 1946, in Edcouch, TX, a son of Jose Alameda, Sr and Maria Lucas Ortiz Alameda. Mr. Alameda was a longtime resident of Wharton County, having graduated from high school in El Campo. After serving our country honorably in the United States Marines Corps, he married Frances Jacquez on March 29, 1969 in Wharton. He enjoyed his horseshoes, fishing, playing bean bag games, pitching washers, and spoiling his grandchildren and later, his great grandchildren. Jose was Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents, Jose was preceded in death by his brothers, David Alameda, Secundino Alameda and Diego Alameda and sister Linda Ramirez. Funeral services were at held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 2pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Wharton American Legion Post 87 and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 4474 provided Military Honors. Cremation followed the services. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Frances Alameda of Wharton, daughter, Erica Mata and husband, Benji of Wharton, sons, Michael Alameda of Wharton and Erik Alameda and wife, Lori of Boling, sisters, Eva Tijerina and husband, Mark of Wharton and Ana Chicas of Houston, sister in Law, Soilia Alameda of Wharton, brothers, Raul Gomez and wife, Esther of Wharton, Robert Alameda and wife, Dora of Wisconsin, Peadeso Alameda and wife, Sylvia of Ganado and Daniel Alameda and wife, Dee of Wisconsin, Grandchildren, Erik Jr., Amari, Araya, Nick, Victoria, Michael, Jr., Arissa, BriAna, Roy, Jr. and Nicholas along with great grandchildren, Roy III, and Daniel Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
