Mr. Raymond Andrew Kubesch, age 73, passed on July 6, 2015, at his home in Wharton. He was born in Nada, TX, on October 16, 1941, the son of Fred and Frieda Meisner Kubesch. Mr. Kubesch was a 40 year resident of Wharton. He graduated from Garwood High School prior to attending A&M University. He also served as a Military Police Officer in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He married the love of his life, Donna Trant Kubesch on December 27, 1970, at the Methodist church in El Campo. His love of the outdoors and golf carried into his professional life as Superintendent of various golf courses for 44 years, including the El Campo Country Club and Columbia Lakes. He also loved fishing, hunting, dominos, and was a proud Aggie. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10th, at First United Methodist Church in Wharton, with Pastor Meredith Wende officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo. Military Honors will be performed at graveside by American Legion Post 251. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Donna Trant Kubesch; daughters Shannon Araya and her husband Miguel of Katy and Shaye Mathew and her husband Anil of Katy; sisters Jo Ann Truman of Friendswood and Lillian Gohlke of Sheridan; brother Fred Kubesch and his wife Dorothy of Victoria; grandchildren Sage Araya, Tate Araya, Skylar Mathew and Legend Mathew; and many nieces, nephews and other friends and family who loved him. Pallbearers will be Steve Cooper, Scott Arbuckle, Danny Sklar, Gene Maca, David Pagel, Don Hillis, Bill Baker and Mike Soderstrom. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Roades, John Roades, Fred Kubesch and all other family members and friends who have already passed away and are surely there to greet him. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial donations to First United Methodist Church of Wharton. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
