Mrs. Dolores L. Sliva, age 88, of Lane City, died Monday, July 6, 2015 in Stafford, TX, following a long illness. She was born on July 23, 1926, in El Campo, TX, a daughter of Frank and Cecilia Orsak Dressler. Mrs. Sliva graduated from El Campo High School, class of 1943. She began her career in the banking industry at Commercial State Bank before marrying the late Sylvester Sliva on July 20, 1953 at St. Phillip’s in El Campo. She is well remembered for her 59 years as a bank teller. When she started with the bank it was Security Bank and Trust before changing to First National and later New First National. She continued to work at the bank until her retirement at the age of 85. She loved reading romance novels, shopping at Dillard’s, and traveling most anywhere. Many pleasant days were also spent antiquing and going to festivals with her son Mark. Her pets also brought special joy to her life. Bentlee and Luckee, her retriever mix dogs, and LuLu the cat were her babies. Visitation will be at Holy Family Catholic Church Saturday morning starting at 9:00, followed by a Rosary and Funeral Mass at 10:00, with Father Bob Knippenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Nic Noble, Kevin Labay, Charles Heller, Robbie Norra, Marc Aaronson and Jeff Sliva. Honorary Pallbearers are her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Sliva; parents Frank and Cecilia Dressler; siblings Vlasta Halmicek, Bertha Kunetka, George Dressler, Edward Dressler, Ted Dressler, J.C. “Jake” Dressler and Lillian Heller. Survivors include her son Mark Sliva; sisters Lorraine Kana, Charlyne Labay and Janelle Labay; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
