Mr. Manuel Delgado, age 87, of Wharton passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in a Houston hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on November 2, 1927, a son of the late Sirilo and Piedad Duran Delgado. Manuel was a longtime resident of the Eagle Lake area. He moved recently to the Wharton area to be closer to family. Manuel attended Eagle Lake schools and worked as a ranch hand for area ranches for many years. On October 25, 1947 he married Dolores Gallegos in Eagle Lake. Never being one to enjoy being indoors, he enjoyed riding horses, working cattle, staying busy, and fixing things. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Carlos and David Delgado and sister, Abigail Delgado, preceded Manuel in death. Visitation will be held Tuesday July 28, 2015 after 5 pm at Peace Tabernacle with a prayer service at 6pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2015 at 2pm from Peace Tabernacle with Rev. Michael Bumgarner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Rex Delgado, Joseph Villaloves, Arthur “Bubba” Castillo, Tyler Araguz, Trevor Araguz and Arthur Castillo Sr. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dolores Delgado of Wharton, children, Stella Rodriguez and husband, Robert of Eagle Lake, Manuel Delgado and wife, Sharon of Michigan, Gilbert Delgado of Ohio, Zeke Delgado of Eagle Lake, Gloria Villaloves of Ohio, Deborah Bass and husband, Vern of Montana, Joe Delgado and wife, Darlene of Michigan, Dolores Delgado Hansel of CA, Sylvia Castillo and husband, Arthur of Richmond, Christine Delgado of LA, Rex Delgado and wife Holly of South Carolina, Joseph Villaloves of Boling and Heather Delgado of Wharton, 26 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Andrea Delgado, Eloise Delgado, and Mary Delgado all of Eagle Lake, brothers, Pete Delgado and wife, Celia of Lissie and Moses Delgado of Houston and many nieces, nephews and friends.
