Mary Jane Kelner Mary Jane Kelner, 72, of Wharton, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, August 3, 2015, at a Wharton nursing center following a lengthy illness. She was born May 4, 1943 in East Bernard, Texas to parents Anton Kelner, Jr. and Rosalie Sophie Michulka Kelner. Mary was raised in East Bernard and attended Holy Cross Catholic School. After obtaining her GED, she attended Prairie View A&M University to study and write poetry. She enjoyed telling jokes, and was known as a comical, intelligent person. Mary was also very social, joining many senior reading and study groups at WCJC while living in Wharton. In addition to her parents, her brother, Jesse preceded her in death. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 starting at 9 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with a Rosary at 9:30 am. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church with Father Donald Ruppert officiating. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery in East Bernard. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Schroeder, Troy Schroeder, Matt Petrosky, Jesse Pitman, Jimmie Schroeder and Ron Pitman. Mary is survived by her son, Marty Kelner and wife, Vicki of Katy, granddaughter, Tori Kelner of Katy, and siblings, Anton Kelner III and wife, Helen of Rosenberg, Betty Kiefert and husband, Ray of Plano, Rosemarie Schroeder of Sealy, Christine Kelner of East Bernard, Donnie Kelner of East Bernard, Margaret Martha Moore and husband, Ronald of Shoreacres, Diane Lynn Nettles and husband, Byron of Livingston, Thomas Charles Kelner and wife, Bobbie of San Antonio, Teresa Petrosky and husband, Louis of Rosenberg, Josephine Pitman and husband, Ronnie of East Bernard, Joseph Kelner and wife, Kim of East Bernard and Johnny Kelner of East Bernard, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
