Ronald Barbre, age 69 of Wharton, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on May 20, 1946 in Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of the late Marvin Robert Barbre and Albertha Waligura Goree. Ronald was raised in the Burr area and graduated from Boling High School in 1966. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and served in the Viet Nam War. Ronald married Linda Bohuslav on June 12, 1971 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. After attending Houston Community College, he worked in the construction field as an electrician. Ronald enjoyed working on cars, working in the yard and attending football games. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation was held on Friday evening, August 28, 2015, from 5-9 with a Rosary at 7:00, at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with funeral services held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiated and burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers were David Barbre, Steven Barbre, Allen Barbre, Marvin Barbre, Phillip Callen, and Dean Calvo. Ronald is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Barbre, and two sons, David Barbre and wife Lacee of Wharton, and Steven Barbre of League City. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Barbre of California, brothers, Allen Barbre and wife LuAnn of Wharton, and Marvin Barbre of California. His grandchildren, Katelyn Marie Barbre, Paisley Reese Barbre and Kelsey Paige Barbre were his joy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton Texas 77488 or a charity of your choice.
