Arabela Chapa Vasquez, age 53, of Wharton, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, in Wharton. She was born on June 20, 1962, in Hebbronville, TX, the daughter of the late Jesus and Anita Cantu Chapa. Arabela graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1978. She married Guadalupe Vasquez, Sr., on June 20, 1979, her birthday. She enjoyed making a home for her husband, children and grandbabies. Visitation was held Thursday from 5 – 9, with a Rosary at 7:00, at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Father Perez officiating. She was laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wharton, TX. Serving, as pallbearers were Manuel Duran, Daniel Chapa, Michael Chapa, Kalini Olascuga, Israel Vasquez, Cypriano Vasquez, Albert Juarez and Joey Arreola. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Chapa, grandson Dominic Canales and nephew Raymond Rodriguez IV. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Guadalupe Vasquez, Sr.; daughters Maria Vasquez and her husband Patrick Cardenas and Veronica Vasquez and her husband Ricky Canales, Sr.; sons Guadalupe Vasquez Jr, and his wife Veronica and Johnny Vasquez; sisters Sally Garza and husband Frank, Mirta Duran and husband Max; brothers Cesar Chapa and wife Brenda, Javier Chapa, Jesse Chapa, and Carlos Chapa and wife Yolanda; grandchildren Ricky Canales, Jr., Kaylee Cardenas, Brittney Vasquez, Romeo Flores, Jacob Vasquez, Elijah Flores, Valerie Vasquez, Breanna Vasquez, Anthony Vasquez and Melanie Martinez.
