Ornlise Louise Berberich Marek Ornlise “Lese” Marek, age 87, of Wharton passed away Saturday September 19, 2015, at a Wharton care center. She was born on January 7, 1929 in Wharton to the late Herman and Martha Teske Berberich. Lese was raised in Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School. She worked for Texasgulf in the accounts payable department for many years, retiring in 1989. She later worked at Richmond State School for seven years, retiring in 1999. Lese married Jerry Marek, who preceded her in death. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and jewelry making. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Wharton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Larrieu and brother, Elwood Berberich. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25 from 5 till 9 pm at Wharton Funeral Home, with funeral services on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Laura Olson officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Ermis, Timmy Hobbs, David Foehner, Ron Luco, Ben Luco and Phil Bush. Lise is survived by her nieces and nephews Rebecca Larrieu, Lorna Stuka, Jimmy Larrieu and Richard Larrieu, Great Niece and Nephews, Sonia Gleason, Danny Mills, Andrew Larrieu, Wally Stuka and Jason Larrieu along with great great nephews, August Kane, William Riley and Dexter Mills.
