Martha Terrazas Martinez, age 85, of El Campo, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Houston, TX following a lengthy illness. She was born in Durango, Mexico on April 29, 1930, to Lorenzo Terrazas Sr. and Maria Holguin. She met and married the love of her life, Alfonso Martinez Sr., in October 1954, while he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. In addition to her parents, her husband preceded her in death on January 31, 2000. Mrs. Martinez in survived by six children, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Daughters include Norma Rodriguez of Brenham, Iracema Pollack of Portland, OR, Sandra Chapa of Austin, Leticia Jackson of El Campo and Bianca Espinoza also of El Campo. One son Alfonso Martinez Jr. lives in Midland, TX. Martha was an active and beloved member of the El Campo Spanish Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she loved to sing, read her Bible and share the Bible with others. Generous and kind, she loved to cook wonderful meals for her family and friends. Sundays at Grandma’s house were a treat to look forward to! Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and she relished their visits, as well as their photos, which she loved to display in her living room. Visitation was held Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Services were held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel with Lucho Rodriguez Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Garden of Memories in El Campo, TX.
