Laddie Anthony Svatek Mr. Laddie Anthony Svatek, age 75, of Wharton died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in Wharton, TX. He was born on March 20, 1940, in Iago, TX, a son of John and Angeline Hajek Svatek. Mr. Svatek was a longtime resident of Wharton County. He married Rosalie Winter at St. Andrew’s in Hillje. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1963 – 1965. He later made his living as a mechanic, owning his own shop for 30 years. He had a passion for the outdoors, including fishing, and hunting geese and deer. He was famous for his homemade sausage. He also served his community through the Wharton Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, where he was a 3rd degree member, and the American Legion. He will always be remembered by his grandchildren for his jokes. Visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2015, from 5-9 with a Rosary at 7, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Bob Knippenburg. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Nada, TX, under the auspices of American Legion Post 251. Survivors include his wife, of over 52 years, Rosalie Winter Svatek; daughter Kathy Lynn Caudle & Steve of Palacios; sons Kenneth Svatek & Barbara of Wharton, Kevin Svatek & Agnes Svoboda of Wharton and Kris Svatek & Tria of El Campo; sisters Agnes Labay, Janice Toman and Bernadette Toman; brothers Johnnie Svatek, George Svatek, Anton Svatek, Jody Svatek, Billy Svatek, David Svatek, Tommy Svatek, Jimmie Svatek and Benjamin Svatek; and grandchildren SSGT Keith Svatek, USMC & Brianna, Kyle Kunkel, LeeAnn Svatek, Sarah Svatek, Wayne Svatek and Myles Svatek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church or Wharton Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home. Condolences may be left a whartonfuneralhome.com.
