Patsy Gilliam Norton Patsy Gilliam Norton, 77, of Missouri City, TX, died December 11, 2015, in Missouri City, TX. Patsy was born on November 21, 1938, in Edinburg, TX, to Richard and Pearl Hollis Gilliam. She graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1957 before going on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Pan American University, and later her Master’s of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University. She moved to Wharton in 1965, in order to work as a Librarian at Wharton County Junior College. In 1976 she became the Director of Library Services for the J.M. Hodges Library at WCJC. She held this position until her retirement in 2001. While working at WCJC, Patsy met her husband Charles Norton, as they were both new employees at the college. They were married at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, in Wharton on July 12, 1969. The couple had one daughter and they continued to make their home in Wharton until moving to Richmond in 2003. Together they shared a love of the opera, theater and other performing arts, as well as ballroom dancing. They enjoyed 43 years of wonderful marriage before Charles passed in May of 2013. Patsy is survived by her daughter Hollis Norton Young and her husband James Young of Missouri City, TX; and her grandson Theo. A Memorial Service will be held January 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
