Juanita Garcia Juanita Garcia, age 64, of Wharton, died December 22, 2015, in a Houston hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Santa Rosa, Texas on December 5, 1951 to the late Dario Garza and Carmen Gonzalez Mendez. She was raised by Alberto and Carmen Gonzalez Mendez. Juanita was raised in Santa Rosa and attended school there. She was married to Juan Garcia on June 28, 1997 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2002. Juanita worked as an accounts payable clerk at Cardell Company for many years, retiring in 2003. In addition to her mother, Carmen Mendez and husband, Juan Garcia, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Garza. Visitation will begin Monday, December 28 at 5 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with a prayer service set to begin at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home on Tuesday December 29, 2015. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her father, Alberto Mendez, sons, Gilbert and Sandra Solis of Houston, Efrain and Cecilia Escobedo, of Harlingen, and Jaime and Sulema Solis of Brownsville, sisters, Nancy Cuellar, Adela Estimbo, Maria Luisa Lopez, Mary Lou Garza, Frances Garza, Andrea Garza, Patricia Ann Garza and Julia Garza and brothers, Eliseo Garza, Dario Garza Jr., 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
