Hughes “Raymond” Fisher, 70, of Wharton, TX, died December 30, 2015, in Houston, TX. Ray was born on September 14, 1945, in Shreveport, LA, to Hughes Butler and Huldah “Tillie” Trautman Fisher. During his early years, Raymond lived in Tampa and Orlando, Florida; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ludowici, Georgia; Misawa and Nagoya, Japan during his father’s career in the Air Force. He grew up in the Ft Walton Beach, FL spending 3rd through 11th grades there and graduated High School while the family was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After graduation, he enlisted and spent three years in the Army. He went on to have a career with AT&T trouble shooting company communication systems. His true passions were photography and his church family. He devoted his volunteer efforts to Veteran activities and the Republican party. Raymond was survived by his sister Joy Fisher Richardson and her husband Roger of Fairhope, AL; nephew Jeff Richardson of Colorado and niece Stacy Taylor, her husband Chandler and their three children, Shane, Madison and Faith of Massachusetts and six first cousins, all of whom will miss his family presence. Special friends Melody & Larry Brooks, daughter Meghan Munson, and Debra & Noe Medina; and his church families. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 4:00-8:00 pm, at Wharton Funeral Home at 515 E Boling Hwy, Wharton TX 77488. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2015 at 4 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, at a later date.
